Boxers are a great, playful breed. They need lots of attention and love. They also have an amazing history. The early boxers were bull baiters in Germany. Bull baiting was a mindless game where people would torment a bull. The loose skin on a boxer served as armor. When a boxer was being attacked, his or her skin would be clawed and bitten. But an injury on the skin was better than in the the bone or organs. The modern boxer is serves as a companion. They are short-haired dogs and need little grooming. One good brushing a week and a bath a month should do.

Boxers are playful. Keep your boxer supplied with lots of toys. Plus giving your boxer toys will help it bond with you. Try to get your boxer from an animal shelter. Sure, those puppies at the pet store are cute, but the ones in a shelter are just as sweet and need a home. Plus you'd be saving a dog's life. "But shelter dogs are mean!" That's not true. A shelter owner did a test with 40 shelter dogs. Just 2 out of 40 the dogs from the shelter couldn't be pets. So overall, boxers are a great family breed. Enjoy these photos!
