The Spunky Swordfish

The long point on a sword fish's nose has many uses. It can be used as a weapon. The swordfish can cut its prey with its sword, but it never spears its prey. The sword is also for speed. With the shape of the bill, it can cut through the water with ease.

The sword fish eats: tuna, barracuda, hake, dorado, and rock fish.

Swordfish are cold-blooded animals, but they have organs near their eyes that heat their eyes and brain. Swordfish are not schooling fish. Females are larger than males, and can be up to 300 pounds!!! Swordfish are food to short-fin mako shark. If under attack, the swordfish rams into the gills of a shark, thus killing it. Swordfish breed in July and August in the Atlantic ocean.
